Have You Ever Seen Flying Snakes?

Scientist have discovered flying snakes.Flying snake is a misnomer, since, barring a strong updraft, these animals can’t actually gain altitude. Biomechanist Jake Socha of Virginia Tech and his colleagues launched one such species of “flying” snakes, Chrysopelea paradise, from a 15-meter tall tower, then videotaped and analyzed the snakes’ exact body positions throughout their flights.

Four cameras recorded the curious snakes as they glided. This allowed them to create and analyze 3-D reconstructions of the animal’s body positions during flight — work that Socha recently presented at the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics (DFD) meeting in Long Beach, CA.

The reconstructions were coupled with an analytical model of gliding dynamics and the forces acting on the snakes’ bodies. The analyses revealed that the reptiles, despite traveling up to 24 meters from the launch platform, never achieved an “equilibrium gliding” state — one in which the forces generated by their undulating bodies exactly counteract the force pulling the animals down, causing them to move with constant velocity, at a constant angle from the horizon. Nor did the snakes simply drop to the ground.
Socha explained. “We can now take that information and start making good precise physical and computational models to study the animal’s aerodynamics,” he told The Scientist.
Surprisingly, although the snakes move down toward the ground, the net force on their bodies during the glide is an upward force – at least briefly. That means that if you add up every force acting on the snake, Socha said, you’d be left with a small force pushing the snake skyward.
The snake doesn’t actually start moving up in part because they don’t fly far enough for the net upward force to have an effect, and in part because the upward force disappears quickly, Socha said.
Socha presented his research at the Fluid Dynamics Meeting in Long Beach, Calif., yesterday and today (November 24) published a paper in a special edition of Bioinspiration & Biomimetics. The issue, entitled Bioinspired Flight, includes eight other studies of flying or gliding organisms, including geckoes, seagulls, insects and floating maple seeds, with the aim of improving the design of man-made air vehicles.
There are five recognized species of flying snake, found from western India to the Indonesian archipelago. Knowledge of their behavior in the wild is limited, but they are thought to be highly arboreal, rarely descending from the canopy. The smallest species reach about 2 feet (61 centimeters) in length and the largest grow to 4 feet (1.2 meters).
Their diets are variable depending on their range, but they are known to eat rodents, lizards, frogs, birds, and bats. They are mildly venomous snakes, but their tiny, fixed rear fangs make them harmless to humans.
Scientists don’t know how often or exactly why flying snakes fly, but it’s likely they use their aerobatics to escape predators, to move from tree to tree without having to descend to the forest floor, and possibly even to hunt prey.
One species, the twin-barred tree snake, is thought to be rare in its range, but flying snakes are otherwise quite abundant and have no special conservation status.

Top 5 Inventions Mistakenly Accredited

Today, many inventions are mistakenly ascribed to those people who only improved the product, but not actually made them. The names such that, Guglielmo Marconi, Thomas Edison and Galileo etc. there are much more inventions which are wrongly attributed to those persons, who only worked on the things already invented.

Number 1: The Internet

inventor of internet
Ascribed Inventor: Al Gore : he never said that he invented the internet, but said, “During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”
Actual Inventor: The inventers of Internet are, (they are the creators of ARPANET, from which internet took its form) Vinton Cerf,Lawrence Roberts, Leonard Klein rock, with  Robert Kahn.
A person who can is recognized as ‘the father of the internet’ is Vinton Cerf (born June 23, 1943, pictured above) he is an American Computer Scientist. The contributions made by him are appreciated repeatedly, he was given many awards and honorary degrees, his awards include National Medal of Technology, The Turing Award, and The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
When he was doing graduation Vinton studied under Professor Gerald Estrin, and he worked in data packet Networking Group of Professor Leonard Kleinrock’s,that group connected the first two nodes of the ARPANet, the predecessor to the Internet, and “contributed to a host-to-host protocol” for it.
He met Robert E. Kahn, whilst he was at UCLA, Robert was working on the ARPANet hardware architecture.Cerf worked as Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google, since September 2005.

Number 2: Motorized Flight

Motorized Flight
Ascribed Inventor: The Wright Brothers
Actual Inventor: Richard Pearse
Nine months prior to the famous take off by The Wright Brothers are regarded as the first motorized and sustained heavier-than-air human flight,on the 17th of December, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, New Zealander, but in fact,  Richard Pearse performed the same achievement in timaru, New Zealand on the 31st March 1903. Even though an aerofoil section wing was required.
The Wright Brothers’ flying machine did not resembled to the modern aircraft design as much as Pearse’s flying machine resembled modern aircraft design, which contains, monoplane rather than biplane of Wright Brothers; tractor rather than pusher propeller like Wright Brothers; stabilizer and elevators at the back rather than the front like Wright Brothers; and ailerons rather than wing-warping for controlling banking by Wright Brothers. It surprisingly resembled  to modern micro light aircraft.

Number 3: Radio

Nikola Tesla
Ascribed Inventor: Guglielmo Marconi
Actual Inventor: Nikola Tesla
The electromechanical engineer Nikola Tesla, also well known as ‘father of wireless telegraphy, he was first among those who produced reliable radio frequency waves. In 1895, Marconi introduced a device to public in London, and emphasized that it was his invention. in spite of, Marconi’s statements to the contrary, though, the apparatus resembles Tesla’s descriptions in the widely translated articles.
Nikola Tesla, Oliver Lodge, and J.S.Stone pre-dated, Marconi’s later practical four-tuned system. Marconi’s transmission of signals was for around a mile, which he built in late-1895. Tesla stated that he received wireless signals transmitted over long distances(between 1895-1899), but there is no verification to sustain this.
As quoted by Tesla, “The popular impression is that my wireless work was begun in 1893, but as a matter of fact I spent the two preceding years in investigations, employing forms of apparatus, some of which were almost like those of today. . . .”

Number 4: Light Bulb

Ascribed Inventor: Thomas Edison
Actual Inventor: Sir Humphry Davy
Sir Humphry Davy
Ascribed Inventor: Thomas Edison
Actual Inventor: Sir Humphry Davy
In 1802, Humphry Davy at the Royal Institution of Great Britain had the most dominant electrical battery in the world . And in the same year, he formed the first luminous light by passing the current through a thin strip of platinum, it was chosen because the metal had an exceptionally high melting point.
Even it was not long lasting for a practical and was not even bright enough, but it was the guide for experiments for the next 75 years, until the first visible practical luminous lamp in 1879 by Thomas Edison.

Number 5: Recorded Audio

Ascribed Inventor: Thomas Edison
Actual Inventor: Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville
recorded audio
In 1860, a Frenchman Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville made-up the phonautograph, that could record sound to an observable medium, but lacked the ability to play back the sound after it was recorded. The recordings were known as phonautograms, and they play backed first time via computer technology in 2008, and you can hear it at the following link:
The First Known Recoding of a Human Voice
This was recorded around 149 years ago, and at that time Emperor Napoleon III was governing France and The US President was James Buchanan. Thomas Alva Edison visualized  the theory of recording and also reproduce sound between 1877 May and July. As a result of his endeavor  to “play back” recorded telegraph messages and to automate speech sounds for transmission by telephone.
On November 21, 1877 he for the first time announced first phonograph, this device was eligible for recording and replaying sound.

Natural Health Tips and Ayurvedic Medicine

milk Milk is not a cleansing agent in ayurveda, it is a builder. Milk, according to ayurveda, is highly suggested for pregnant women, lactating women and children in their growing stages. However, milk should not be taken cold as it is not easy to digest. Milk preparation pays a key role in bringing out the health benefits of milk. Boiling milk before consuming it destroys the bad bacteria and helps in breaking down the amino acids in it. The health benefits of milk are multiplied when herbs like cinnamon; black pepper and cardamom are added in it. Ayurveda recommends fresh cow’s milk and goat’s milk only, however, people may not be able to get it easily especially in cities. You can still enjoy maximum benefits of milk if you prepare it in accordance with the Ayurvedic tips given in this post.
Here is an Ayurvedic take on some of the milk based products:
1. Cheese: Cheese is one milk based product which Ayurveda does not completely support. It should be consumed occasionally only. Cheese is oily, salty and difficult to digest. If you must have cheese then you must add black pepper and red chilly on it. Cottage cheese is a better option that pure cheese. Traditionally, onions were added to sandwiches to help in digestion, now it is done for taste.
2. Sour Cream:
Sour cream is sour and hot and difficult to digest. People living in Asian countries, where it is hot and humid for most part of the year, must have less of sour cream as it is difficult to digest.
3. Buttermilk:
Buttermilk is extremely healthy for the body according to ayurveda. You must have it every day as it improves the functioning of small intestines. However, you must avoid commercially sold buttermilk as it has preservatives added in it and have as much of home-made buttermilk as possible. Salty buttermilk is better that sweet buttermilk. You can add little ginger juice and coriander in it to enhance its cooling properties. Buttermilk is a great remedy to cure and avoid heat strokes.
4. Yogurt and curd:
Yogurt is one of the most beneficial milk based food in ayurveda. Yogurt is an amazing digestive aid in the entire world. Yogurt is a beneficial cure for diarrhea. Yogurt mixed with psyllium is a beneficial drink to treat constipation. Everyday consumption of yogurt helps maintain the balance of good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. It helps cure stomach problems like indigestion and bloating. Yogurt must be prepared differently for people of different Doshas namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
-Person who is predominantly Vata can have yogurt everyday in any manner.
-Person who is predominantly Pitta should have sweet yogurt by adding fruits to it to make it more digestible. To further improve the digestive properties add a pinch of turmeric powder to it.
-Person who is predominantly Kapha must have yogurt or curd in gravy form. One can add honey in it to enhance its astringent properties.
5. Ghee:
Ghee or clarified butter is a common food in Indian homes. Ghee has many health benefits such as it helps in improving the bone health, make the mind sharp and make the skin shiny. Ghee is also helpful in a smooth birthing process for pregnant women. Ghee has rejuvenating properties. Ghee is cool in nature and provides the body with the required amount of fat which helps with digestion.

8 Shocking Facts Behind Heart Disease

Hot Desi Aunty

Heart disease is the 'silent killer' is dangerous and can move faster than you can imagine. So armed yourself with knowledge so that you can still maintain cardiovascular health. Like in the movies , most heart attacks start with symptoms that seem trivial, such as pain or pain in the chest, sometimes accompanied by fainting. This is true. So do not dismiss symptoms of chest pain to come.......

Women experience a different attack:

Do not also assume that the only pain in the chest are a sign that you're under attack. When men or women often feel pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back area, neck, jaw, or stomach, then the woman will usually find that his breathing became shorter.

In addition, in women may be there will be symptoms of nausea and vomiting, accompanied by pain in his back and jaw area, while men do not experience it. This also needs to watch out.

Time is critical:

If you think that you might get an attack, do not wait until more than 5 minutes. Immediately go to the nearest hospital to receive first aid. If you are alone, then contact the ambulance. Never drive myself in such circumstances.

Cigarette:

According to the American Heart Association statement, smokers have 2-4 times more risk than nonsmokers.

Not all fats are bad:

Dr. James Carlson, author of 'Genocide: How Your Doctor's Dietary Ignorance Will Kill You' said that the dietary rules are believed to society in general is wrong.

Carlson asserts that eating fatty foods that do not always make a person get fat. And if a cholesterol diet was never proven that it can increase the risk of heart disease.

What is dangerous is food with saturated fat content and which contain fatty acids. The content of fatty acids is claimed even more evil than trans fat.

The enemy really is ...

Carlson pointed out that the mastermind behind the incidence of heart disease is actually the change of sugar molecules into cholesterol that can clog arteries.

In this case, Carlson is not alone because a lot of research to prove that the liver or liver convert excess sugars into triglycerides, and type of compounds that are harmful to the heart.

This also explains why a diet low in sugar (though still eat meat) often show decreased levels of LDL and triglycerides.

Sometimes women feel pain on the right side of his chest during the attacks.

According to Carlson, this sometimes makes the doctor's wrong diagnosis. Therefore, we need to equip themselves with knowledge. Indeed, doctors know more than us about the health sciences, but it could not hurt you also tell him also about what you know or have read about, because who knows it could help them in making the diagnosis appropriately.

Oral health is very influential on the heart:

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, people with gum disease have a 2 times more likelihood of developing coronary heart disease.

Robert H. Gregg, DDS, founder of Millennium Dental Technologies suggests that gum disease in the oral cavity cause the number of bacteria that can increase the risk of atheroclerosis (disturbances in the artery), which often cause interference with the heart.

So, what to do?! Go to the dentist on a regular basis to check and clean your teeth, brush your teeth after eating and before bed, and clean between teeth with floss as recommended by your doctor.

If you are afraid with all the stuff the dentist tools are horrible, then try laser therapy is more effective and painless, please call and ask your doctor or nearest hospital in your city.
